Welcome to eastern Ontario, our area boasts the best of several worlds; a dynamic high technology business sector, attractive communities, convenient access to nearby population centres and unrivaled natural beauty.

Located on the Trans Canada Highway approximately a two-hour drive from the nation's Capital, Ottawa, the area is centered on the towns of Deep River and Chalk River known internationally as the home of Atomic Energy of Canada Limited (AECL). AECL provides the area with high tech, scientific and engineering spin off businesses, and opportunities, such as, Bubble Technology.

These communities each distinguished by clean, tidy streets and neighbourhoods -- offer a safe, friendly environment for children, excellent community services (including police, fire, and medical services) and an abundance of recreational activities. Parks, beaches and green space are plentiful, and there are numerous programs for children.

In addition, schools in the Deep River area are known throughout the Province for their high level of academic excellence and for the variety of programs available. You couldn't find better resources or a better environment for the education of your children.

The Deep River Science Academy is a non-profit summer school unique to this area. It is registered in the Province of Ontario and operated by a board of directors, with the collaboration of the Chalk River Laboratories, the Petawawa National Forestry Institute and the Town of Deep River. The academy provides scientifically inclined students with an opportunity to learn some basic science and to experience for themselves the application of science in the real world. You couldn't find better resources or a better environment for the education of your children.

Entertainment, ranging from plays to classical music, is brought to town through a local group called THEOP. Deep River is also probably the smallestcommunity in Canada to have its ownsymphony orchestra.

There are a number of special events in town, including a giant Christmas Craft Fair, the highly acclaimed Silver Spoon Cross-Country Ski Race and Summerfest. Summerfest in particular, has evolved into a major event. The four day celebration of summer takes place on the August long weekend every second year and has become a major homecoming for people who grew up in Deep River.

We are currently attempting to diversify our economy. There is outstanding potential for waterfront development, particularly since the Ottawa River has been recently opened to boat traffic between Pembroke and Lake Temiskaming via a series of dam bypasses using trailers. This allows boaters the luxury of nearly 400 Kms of a navigable, scenic water route.

There are a good variety of single family dwellings in Deep River. Changing demographics has created an opportunity for more multi-residential housing geared to seniors.

There are a variety of light industrial and commercial properties available on the Trans Canada Highway, as well as, some downtown commercial locations available for rent.

The area is linked, directly by first-rate road transportation, the CP Rail main line, and air service through neighbouring Pembroke, to the population centres of Ottawa and Montreal, and to the North Bay- Sudbury district of north-central Ontario. There are also convenient connections to Western Canadaand to markets in Toronto and Southern Ontario. The proximity of major population centres means that businesses in the Deep River area can offer their employees the benefits of spectacular, unspoiled natural surroundings -- without sacrificing access to big city amenities and markets.
