East Gwillimbury has many excellent Recreation and Leisure facilities offering a wide variety of programs for its residents including aquatics, dance, music, sports and a complete range of Summer Camps. The Town has over 135 acres of parkland which include tot lots, neighborhood and community parks as well as municipal open space and Lake Simcoe Conservation Areas.

The Town boasts of a variety of outdoor playing fields and surfaces for its residents to enjoy, including soccer pitches, softball diamonds, tennis courts and basketball courts. State-of -the-art ice facilities with two ice pads, enable residents to enjoy twelve months of ice time and four months of ball hockey, lacrosse and special events.

The Town is home to several excellent golf courses including Pheasant Run, an 18-hole championship course, the picturesque and challenging Silver Lakes Golf Club and the recently renovated Shawneeki. Within a 15-minute car ride, golfers can choose from over 35 private or public golf courses and a variety of driving ranges offering something for every level of golfer. There are also snowmobile trails, ice fishing, and regular sport fishing including some trout streams. The Municipality also boasts a number of horse riding stables.

The residents of East Gwillimbury can enjoy watching the latest movie releases on 16 floor-to ceiling, wall-to-wall, curved screens at the recently completed SilverCity, a high-tech, multiplex cinema located on Yonge Street at Green Lane. In addition to several video rental places throughout the town, there are also numerous theatres available in the area offering live performances including Red Barn theatre.

There are over 40 various community organizations and Service Clubs in East Gwillimbury, providing valuable services and social activities to the young and old alike. Become a Girl Guide or Scout, drop by for play time and coffee and a local playgroup or join the Historical Society and help preserve East Gwillimbury's heritage.
