Ontario Cities offer an incredible array of winter activities. From the shores of Lake Ontario to the frozen North, we have anything you may ask for. The beauty of winter landscapes, the stunning views of frozen lakes and rivers, the ski hills and dog-sledding trails. Ontario Cities, big and small, grand ones and the tiny ones, all of them offer something special for everyone, so come and visit, your winter vacations may never be the same!In our own travels we visited many beautiful Ontario cities. Last year's ski trip in Quebec took us to our Nation's Capital: Ottawa. Cold sunny day, with crisp air from freezing temperature, and a wonderful memory. Not often, someone from Barrie, Ontario has a chance to see the splendor of the Capital Hill covered in the glistening snow. Along with our children, we took a tour of the Parliament Buildings, to warm up. Once we got to the viewing level on the clock tower, the views took our breath away. You could see for miles and miles. Across the river, the museum of civilization stood proud and modern. The Rideau Canal swarming with skaters... and glistening snow everywhere. Kids had a blast! Another time we went to one of our best known Ontario Cities,Niagara Falls in the middle of winter. Now that is an experience you don't want to forget! The falls are majestic any time of the year, but winter time is simply magical... Boy, it's cold by the falls, but how spectacular and beautiful with the cloud of mist hovering over the water, and the frozen sculpted walls framing the water cascades. Everything is sparkling and beautiful. The only thing is you can't stay there long, because of the frizzing mist, but you can always warm up in the cozy restaurant or... one of the casinos. Our winter trips take us sometimes through the Algonquin Park Corridor into the secluded areas of Killaloe and Pembroke. That's where we have our little summer hideaway. Once in the while we will travel through the park and admire the beauty of leafless trees and unspoiled snow. On the way, we visit Huntsville, cozy little town with so much charm and beauty. Little stores on the main street, friendly people and the setting, just perfect! Then we have the other end of Ontario, with old Oakville, on the shores of Lake Ontario. Here you will find beautiful old estates along the Lakeshore Drive, parks and secluded playgrounds. And let's not forget the frozen shores of the lake. Your trip may take you all the way to the neighboring Burlington, with well planned streets, spectacular downtown and again breathtaking frozen shores of Lake Ontario. Here you can spot nature made frozen sculptures right by the shoreline walkways. From Burlington it's just a step to Halton Hills and Kelso Park. Perhaps you will travel to one of the spectacular Ontario Cities, London, to take part in their Snowfest or Winter Wonderland Festival, do not forget to make plans to also visit Waterloo and Kitchener on the way. Both are wonderful places to see. If you are a ice sport enthusiast, do make sure to find your way to Waterloo's Rim Park. State of the art facility. Perhaps you may even be lucky to be there during one of many Skate Ontario's Competitions. From there it's only 6km to the village of St. Jacob's and the wonderful Mennonite country. Enjoy! Where ever we go, we always admire the splendor and beauty of our own Ontario Cities. Winter time truly is magical and special here. And once you leave the Ontario Cities and enter the Ontario Backcountry... you discover the enchanted winter forests, the glistening, snow covered spruce trees and the quiet and calm of the winter's morning... you will be hooked forever.
